Frequently asked questions.

 FAQs

  • No, I do not offer medical advice or treatment during coaching sessions. I have voluntarily relinquished my registration as a doctor. The knowledge and experience I gained as a doctor informs my approach, but we do not delve into your medical issues. It is important that you continue to access your usual medical care.

  • In a nutshell, my coaching gives you space and time to explore your health and wellbeing from a different perspective. I listen deeply to what you’re really saying and I guide you through and teach you science informed techniques to move forward

  • Yes, I offer both online and in person sessions in Sheffield at the Sheffield Wellness Centre on Abbeydale Rd.

  • My coaching is grounded in a growing body of evidence from neuroscience, psychology, and mind-body medicine. Research shows that our thoughts, beliefs, and emotional states directly impact our physical health through mechanisms like the stress response, neuroplasticity, and even gene expression (epigenetics). Techniques such as visualisation, mindfulness, breathwork, and cognitive reframing - all of which I use in my coaching - have been shown to reduce inflammation, improve immune function, and promote healing.

As a former doctor, I combine scientific understanding with intuitive tools and techniques that support lasting change. While coaching isn’t a medical treatment, it empowers clients to shift their mindset, align with their values, and engage the body’s natural capacity for restoring wellness.

  • No, my coaching is not therapy. While both aim to help individuals improve their lives, they do so in different ways. Therapy often focuses on healing past traumas and resolving psychological issues. Life coaching is action and future focused, however there can be some overlap in techniques used.

If at any point I feel you would benefit from therapy then I would inform you of this.

  • Confidentiality is a top priority in my coaching practice, just as it was in my medical career. I adhere to strict ethical standards to ensure that all information shared during our sessions remains confidential and secure. Your privacy is respected at all times, and I maintain confidentiality unless required by law or if there is a concern for your safety or the safety of others.

  • You might not realise it, but we talk about the mind-body connection all the time in everyday language:

“I’m so angry – my blood is boiling.”
“He’s a real pain in the neck.”
“I’m so nervous – I feel sick to my stomach.”

These aren’t just figures of speech – they’re real reflections of how our thoughts and emotions affect our physical body.

Think about how your body feels when you’re stressed. Tight shoulders, a racing heart, maybe even an upset stomach. That’s your mind-body connection in action. Our thoughts can trigger very real physical changes in the body, especially when we’re under chronic stress.
