I worked as a GP in the NHS for years, but always felt like there was something missing in my life. I had become disillusioned over the years as a doctor, often feeling like I was at best offering sticking plasters on my patient's symptoms rather than getting to any root causes of their chronic illness.
More importantly, I felt there was something missing for me.
The pandemic caused many to reflect on their life and this was definitely the case for me.
For the first time, I asked myself what I truly wanted in this life. I reconnected with my own spirit. I rediscovered a joy through painting - something that had been missing for many years. I eventually transitioned from medicine and followed my heart to become an abstract painter.
